Through 2009, General Motors Corporation produced the medium-duty C7500 truck. It was part of the Topkick Series and was designed for commercial use. It is available with three cab options: standard cab, crew cab and cutaway cab. The following specifications apply to the 2009 model year of the GMC C7500.
The 2009 standard cab and cutaway cab C7500 each offers 15 wheelbase options. The shortest wheelbase is 140 inches and the longest is 296 inches. The crew cab C7500 has five wheelbase options, from 194 inches to 260 inches.
The 2009 GMC C7500 has two engine options. The 8.1-liter, Vortec V8 engine can produce 295 horsepower at 3,600 rpm and 440 pound-feet of torque at 3,200 rpm. The Isuzu 6H diesel engine displaces 7.8 liters and has five output options. The smallest size produces 215 horsepower at 2,200 rpm and 560 pound-feet of torque. The largest produces 300 horsepower at 2,200 rpm and 860 pound-feet of torque.
Several transmission options are available for the 2009 C7500. Six of the 16 automatic-transmission options are five-speed transmissions; the other 10 are six-speed transmissions. One option is designed for emergency vehicles; another is designed for motor homes. Other variations include the addition of overdrive and column shift. Of the nine manual transmission options, three are five-speed, three are six-speed, two are nine-speed and one is 10-speed. The variations are designed to work with the different torque outputs of the engine.
Two brake systems are available for the GMC C7500. The hydraulic brake system features split brakes and four-channel anti-lock braking system. The front and rear systems work independent of each other. The air brake system also features a four-channel, anti-lock Bendix system and dual air pressure gauge.
